Privacy statement

Who we are

Chalet T34 at Vakantiepark Klein Vaarwater in Buren (Ameland) is let by Laura Boelens. She is responsible for the data received through this website. You can send questions about privacy to lauraboelens@icloud.com or call +31 6 22 98 12 07.

Contact and booking requests

Through the contact form we ask for your name and email address and, if you wish, your phone number, preferred dates, number of guests and a message. We use this data only to answer your question and to handle a booking. We may do so because you ask us to.

Your request is stored on our own server and forwarded to us by email. On the server it is deleted automatically after one year. If the request leads to a booking, we keep the data needed for our accounts for as long as the law requires (seven years for tax purposes).

Reviews

If you write a review, we ask for your name, email address, the month of your stay, a score and your text. Once we approve it, your name (as you enter it), the month, the score and the text are shown publicly on the site, possibly with a translation. Your email address is never public; we only use it if we have a question about your review, and we delete it after one year. A review we do not publish is deleted after one year.

You post a review on your own initiative. If you would later like it changed or removed, just send us a message.

Some reviews were taken over from Airbnb and VVV Ameland, with the first name or description as it was publicly shown there. If you would like us to remove your review, please let us know.

Visiting the website

Like every web server, our server keeps a log of visits: your IP address, the time, the page requested and the type of browser. We use it to keep the site secure and to track down faults. These logs are deleted automatically after four weeks.

When you submit a form, the server remembers your IP address in its working memory for at most one hour, to prevent anyone from flooding the forms with spam.

For visitor statistics we use Umami, on our own server. Umami uses no cookies and stores no IP addresses; we only see how often pages are viewed, not who you are.

Cookies

We do not use cookies to track you or for advertising. If you choose a language yourself, your browser remembers that choice for one year with the cookie taal. It contains only the language.

The map

The Map page shows a map from OpenStreetMap. Your browser loads this map from the servers of the OpenStreetMap Foundation, which sees your IP address when it does so. Their own privacy policy applies to what they do with that data.

Who can see your data

Only we ourselves. The website runs on our own server in the Netherlands. Notifications of new requests and reviews arrive in our mailbox at Apple iCloud. We do not sell your data and do not pass it on to others, unless the law requires us to.

We make backups of the server. Data may remain in these for a few months after it has been deleted from the site itself; after that these copies are replaced too.

Your rights

You may ask us which data we hold about you, and have it corrected or deleted. You may also object to its use, have its use restricted, or receive your data in a common file format. Send a message to lauraboelens@icloud.com; we will reply within one month.

If you are not satisfied with how we handle your data, you can lodge a complaint with the Dutch data protection authority, the Autoriteit Persoonsgegevens, or with the data protection authority in your own country.
